A Case Study of Play Therapy for a Child with Selective Mutism

Abstract
This paper presents a case study of play therapy for an eight-year-old girl with selective mutism, with a total of 49 individual play therapy sessions conducted. In the early stage, the child remained as though frozen, but she gradually became fascinated with play and the interaction with the therapist increased, along with her verbal expressions. As a result of the play therapy, the child became stronger and more courageous against internal and external anxiety. In addition, she recognized her negative and positive aspects and showed growth. in other areas while also improving ability to express her thoughts and interact with others.
